DESCRIPTION
AmproCure 20 (Amprolium) is a coccidiostat (antiprotozoal) used for the treatment and prevention of coccidiosis in livestock such as calves, sheep, goats, and poultry, including chickens (broilers and breeders) and turkeys. It is effective against Eimeria spp., particularly Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina, E. praecox, and E. necatrix.
As a thiamine (vitamin B1) analogue, AmproCure 20 works through competitive inhibition of thiamine uptake. It inhibits the active transport of thiamine in second-generation schizonts of Eimeria spp. and in the host's intestinal cells. This leads to a thiamine deficiency in the coccidia, resulting in their starvation and eventual death due to malnutrition.
Indications
AmproCure 20 (Amprolium) is used as a preventive and therapeutic agent against Eimeriainfections in poultry, particularly targeting E. tenella, E. necatrix, E. acervulina, and E. praecox. It is also effective against other protozoal infections, such as Histomoniasis (Blackhead) in turkeys and poultry, coccidiosis in calves, sheep, and goats, and amoebiasis in various species.
Contra-indications
Do not use in layers producing eggs for human consumption.
Do not administer to animals with impaired hepatic and/or renal functions.
Do not administer to turkeys before the age of 8 to 10 weeks.
Side Effects
High doses may result in delayed growth in broilers or polyneuritis.
Long-term administration of amprolium in high doses may result in thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency in the host.
Dosage and Administration
For oral administration:
Calves, sheep, and goats:
Preventive: 1 g per 40 kg body weight through drinking water or milk for 21 days.
Curative: 1 g per 20 kg body weight through drinking water or milk for 5 days.
Poultry:
Preventive: 1 kg per 2,000 liters of drinking water for 1 - 2 weeks.
Curative: 1 kg per 700 liters of drinking water for 5 - 7 days.
Mixed with milk replacer, use the product within 12 hours. Mixed with drinking water, use the product within 24 hours.
Withdrawal Period
Meat:
Calves, goats, sheep: 3 days
Poultry: 3 days
Storage
Store in a dry and dark place between 8°C and 25°C.
Store in closed packing.
Keep away from children.
