DESCRIPTION
GENTADEX 150 WSP is a combination of gentamicin and doxycycline. Gentamicin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, has bactericidal activity primarily against gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, and Salmonella spp. Doxycycline, a tetracycline antibiotic, is bacteriostatic and effective against a broad range of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Campylobacter, E. coli, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcusspp., as well as Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, and Rickettsiaspp. Doxycycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, while gentamicin works locally within the gastrointestinal tract. Due to its strong affinity for lung tissues, doxycycline is particularly effective for respiratory infections. This combination provides potent antibacterial effects in the gastrointestinal tract, along with rapid systemic absorption for intensive treatment.
INDICATIONS
GENTADEX 150 WSP is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to gentamicin and/or doxycycline. It is particularly effective for managing gastrointestinal and respiratory tract infections in calves, lambs, pigs, and poultry. This combination antibiotic is a potent solution for treating a wide range of infectious diseases in these animals.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not administer to animals with known hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides and/or tetracyclines.
