DESCRIPTION
GENTADEX 400 WSP is a synergistic combination of gentamicin and doxycycline designed to provide broad-spectrum antibacterial coverage. Gentamicin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, exhibits bactericidal action primarily against gram-negative bacteria, including E. coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, and Salmonella species. Doxycycline, a tetracycline antibiotic, has bacteriostatic effects against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, such as Campylobacter, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus species. It is also effective against atypical pathogens, including Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, and Rickettsia species. The mechanism of action for doxycycline involves the inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis, leading to disrupted bacterial growth. Gentamicin remains unabsorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, providing a localized antibacterial effect, while doxycycline, with its strong affinity for lung tissues, ensures effective treatment of respiratory tract infections. This combination offers both intensive gastrointestinal and systemic antibacterial action, delivering rapid therapeutic benefits for a wide range of infections.
INDICATIONS
GENTADEX 400 WSP is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to gentamicin and/or doxycycline. It is particularly effective in treating gastrointestinal and respiratory tract infections in calves, lambs, pigs, and poultry. As a potent antibacterial solution, GENTADEX 400 WSP is highly effective in addressing a broad range of infectious diseases in these targeted animals.
