COMPOSITION
Each gram contains
Neomycin sulphate: 300 mg
DESCRIPTION
Neomycin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal aminoglycoside antibiotic, acting bacteriostatic in low concentrations and bactericidal in high concentrations. It is effective against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. When administered orally, only a small fraction (<5%) is absorbed systemically, and the remainder remains as the active compound in the gastrointestinal tract. Neomycin is not inactivated by enzymes or food, making it an effective treatment for enteric infections caused by bacteria sensitive to neomycin.
INDICATIONS
NIOCARE 300 WSP is indicated for the treatment of intestinal infections in calves, sheep, goats, swine, and poultry. Neomycin is effective against pathogens such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Pasteurella, Staphylococci, and Listeria species. Due to its low absorption rate when administered orally, neomycin targets enteric pathogens effectively, although absorption may increase in cases of severe enteritis.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
Do not administer to animals with impaired kidney or liver function.
Avoid use in animals with known allergies to neomycin.
Not for use in lactating animals if milk is intended for human consumption.
Do not use in layers producing eggs for human consumption.
Not recommended for use in pregnant animals.
SIDE EFFECTS
Effects on hearing and equilibrium may occur.
Kidney damage and neuro-muscular blockage may result.
Long-term treatment may cause complications due to vitamin B and K deficiencies from disturbances in microbiological digestion.
INCOMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER DRUGS
Do not combine with muscle relaxants or anaesthetics, including phenothiazine.
