DESCRIPTION
Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the tetracycline group that exhibits bacteriostatic action by inhibiting protein synthesis, thereby preventing bacterial multiplication. It is highly effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Bordetella, Bacillus, Corynebacterium, Campylobacter, E. coli, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus species. Additionally, oxytetracycline is effective against atypical pathogens such as Mycoplasma, Rickettsia, and Chlamydia species, making it a versatile choice for managing various bacterial infections.
INDICATIONS
OXYVET 500 WSP is indicated for the treatment of respiratory infections caused by Pasteurella multocida, Actinobacillus, Haemophilus, and Mycoplasma species, as well as gastrointestinal infections caused by Clostridium spp., Salmonella spp., E. coli, and Campylobacterspp. in calves, goats, sheep, and poultry. This broad-spectrum antibiotic is effective in managing both respiratory and digestive tract infections, ensuring rapid recovery and improved health in the targeted livestock and poultry.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
Do not administer to animals with impaired kidney or liver function.
Avoid use in animals with known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines.
Not recommended for animals with active microbial digestion, such as ruminants.
SIDE EFFECTS
Discoloration of teeth in young animals (calves, piglets, lambs).
INCOMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER DRUGS
Do not combine with other antibiotics like penicillins, quinolones, and cycloserine.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
For oral administration via feed or drinking water or milk replacer (calves, lambs, kids).
Poultry: 100 g per 200 liters of drinking water for 3 - 5 days.
Calves, lambs, kids: 1 g per 20 kg bodyweight daily, for 3 - 5 days.
Mixed with feed, use the product immediately. Mixed with drinking water, use the product within 24 hours.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
Meat:
Poultry: 6 days
Calves, lambs: 8 days
Eggs: 5 days
STORAGE
Store in a dry and dark place between 8 °C and 25 °C.
Store in closed packing.
Keep away from children.
